Biography

Todd Dunnavant and his wife, Valerie, are Alabama transplants who have lived in the Houston area for 27 years. Todd's early professional career focused on ensuring that the foundations for Houston's high rises, oil platforms around the world, and various dams around Texas were properly designed and did not present hazards to the community. He liked this technical career so much, he went back to school and got a Ph.D. in geotechnical (foundation) engineering from the University of Houston. Upon seeing the light during his mid-career, he changed professional course and embarked upon a career as a software engineer, boot-strapping his knowledge in this new (to him) discipline by achieving an MS in Software Engineering at UH Clear Lake. Here, he had the pleasure and good fortune to work with some of the leading minds in the local and national software engineering community, particularly with respect to illuminaries in the field of software development processes. Shortly after finishing at UHCL, Todd joined the field techical staff of Rational Software, where for the past 10 years he has had the pleasure of helping numerous clients, both large and small, improve their software development practices. Todd has been an IBMer since 2003, which was when Big Blue acquired Rational.
